Blitz came into my life after being rescued from a high-kill shelter in Mexico. I’m so thankful for the rescue that pulled him and gave him a chance - because that’s how he found his way to me.

He was on death row because he was a “growler”, and they believed no one would adopt him.

Lucky for me, I hit the jackpot.

I later learned his grumbling was just his way of communicating - one of the many things that made him so special.

From the moment I met him, I knew he was special. He had the biggest personality, so much life, and brought an energy into my home that is impossible to replace.

In December, everything changed.

After being misdiagnosed, I trusted my instincts and had his labs rechecked. Within minutes, I was told his platelet count was zero and to go straight to the emergency vet.

What followed were months of uncertainty, difficult decisions, and over $40,000 in attempts to save him.

At one point, I was told I needed to pay $13,000 upfront just for treatment to begin. No payment plan. No options. Just an impossible decision in a moment of crisis.

I was fortunate enough to say yes. Many people don’t have that choice.

Despite everything, I lost him.

And in that moment, I realized something - what I experienced is happening to pet owners every single day.

The Blitz Foundation was created in his memory to help change that.

Our goal is simple: to help pet owners facing emergency situations get access to the care their pets need, without being stopped by financial barriers.

Because no one should have to choose between their pet’s life and money.
